Dismantled Sculptures

Dismantled Sculptures

Totte's new series was first shown at the Finnish Institute in Madrid in February 2008.

Theinspiration for "dismantled sculptures" came from the late Spanish sculptor Miguel Berrocal. Totte visited his workshop in Verona where he produced thousands of multiple sculptures of bronze and silver which the buyer could "strip " into pieces and then again put them together.

Amuseum dedicated to Miguel Berrocal will soon open near Malaga, but his idea of "dismantled sculptures" lives on in Totte's paintings.

Totte says, "I was so moved by Miguel's work. It lived in my memory for sucha long time, and I am delighted to develop some of his ideas in my new series. I exhibited a few of them in Madrid, but it is in the Galleria Uusitalo where the full collection - as it currently stands, since I amworking on more works - can be seen for the first time."

The series comprises now 30 paintings, and we are proud to show part of them in the Collections of this web site. The series was officially launched at the Galleria Uusitalo in Helsinki on 2nd July, 2008, and will go to three museums in Mexico in 2009.

Totte's paintings were exhibited at the 10 Festival Internacional de Puebla. Here is what the catalogue says about them:.
